Chapter 228: Where is the weekend review?

Well, the fact that there is no weekend review is not my fault. It's the fault of the people who scheduled the soccer matches. Who asks Euro 2012 Qualifiers to kick in this weekend? Thats why I am unable to provide any weekend review this weekend as there isnt much worth mentioning about.

Rumours circulating said that the PW results will be out on 1 April. But considering the fact that 1 April is April's Fool Day... oh well... you can roughly tell the accuracy of this piece of "information".

And my friend told me that he knew 1 May is quite a significant day. All I told him was: "lol yeah, by knowing that, i can see that u gt a great future ahead". Then we went on talking about 2012 where the world is said to "end".

Moving on, sch today was without Bing Hui, who went for his NS Checkup.
I told Josh that today is a very peaceful day for him.

During PE, we did standing broad jump and the exercises. I also did pullups and the crunches, pushups, etc. The teacher told me to do 2 pullups everytime i see a pullup bar. But dont overdo it or I will be scared of pullup whenever i see a pullup bar... which is actually quite true... The last time after the teacher asks us to do 2-3 sets of 8 pullups, the no. of pullups i could do downgraded from 2 to ZERO.
It is not so bad now I can manage a minimum 3.. but I need 4 to get a silver and 2 months exemption from NS :) The worse thing is that NAPFA is next week... I cant afford to screw this or my bdae would have been over by the retest...

During Maths lecture today, Mr. Wee almost said the four letter vulgar word. Actually, I think he wanted to say "five", in the end, he said "minus five" instead.
That was funny considering everyone laughed.

Oh and elearning on monday was bad.. I rather attend school..

Mass civics today was about cyber wellness. The speaker spoke of addiction etc etc. He even mentioned the game "World of Warbluff" which is a changed name from "World of Warcraft" to avoid lawsuit issues i guess.
Its just dumb spending real life money for a dress in AuditionSEA that lasts merely 7 days.. seriously..
Disclaimer: Though I play mousehunt alot, I dont spend real life money on it...
Many laughed when the speaker talked about people spending real life money on mousehunt..
He also spoke of JC students dota-ing with friends(from poly) till late night. This reminds me of my friend, yian LOL.

Ok, I need to sleep already, bye.

Chapter 227: Workout

After sch, I went for a workout with Bing Hui, Matthew and Yi An.
We started by changing to the appropriate attire before heading off to the track.
We dashed the first round at max speed... but I wasnt running at max speed as I'm afraid of "breaking down" before the lap ends...
"Breaking down" means that if u continue running, nothing serious will happen other than u will just drop down and die.
I clocked 1 min 08 sec. Then walked 100m, another 400m dash. This cycle is done 4 times and the last round clocked 1 min 58 secs.

yian is forever having his butt pain when running....
Matt is forever imbalanced in his never-dying stamina..

Then we went to the gym in sch to workout. I trained on my back muscles and did dips in order to force that 1 more pull up...

Oh, for my NAPFA, i can at least secure a D for each station with the exception of pull-ups. I did 3, while the D grade requires 4-5.... Just 1 more to silver and 2 months off NS...

We then went to play basketball.. Nothing memorable to mention as I always suck in bball. Matt was awesome btw.

Went for a drink and matt and yian left. Bh and I went back to the gym to train abit more.. before i head off for my cca at 4.30 while bh waited till 5.30 for his AJIdol Rehearsal.

My cca is Cxtreme.. and today, the C shall stand for Colouring, in other words, Colouring extreme as we merely meddle with the drawings on the tablet computer.. while the JC1s are meddling with the robots to prepare for their NJRC Competition.

Went home after that.

Chapter 226: Tuesdays with NLZZTimes

This title isn't that original after all if you have realised.
I got this inspiration from a book I (was forced to) read some time back (for my book review homework). The book is titled "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom.

Chem lecture about Nitrogen Compounds, then PE.
PE required us to do pull-ups, 12 of them, in whatever set preferable, according to own preference. Then we went for a 2.4km run. I clocked 11 mins 10 secs, which was a score for B. And the range for B is 10.21 - 11.10 ... so 1 sec late and C is on its way to town...

Then come the Maths Lecture. Its Vectors Part 2.. Vectors Part 1 already is good enough to kill half of me... now they're introducing another half to finish me once and for all :( There is this "Right hand screw rule" inside vectors. However, the way the lecturer pronounced it makes it sound like "Right hand screw you." which is very funny.
GP Tutorial came after, with several people missing from class due to the Aesthetics performance coming up during mass civics. So, Mrs Chng began giving us content, updating us on the General Issues... well of course, there is the part on Gaddafi and the part on Japan.

Then came the Mass Civics period in the Hall, where we watched the Aesthetics performances as mentioned earlier. Moving on, we have the Maths peer tutoring on Vectors Part 1.
Then we have the GP Remedial which Mrs Chng went thru the intro paragraph for our essays... She told me that physically handicapped and mentally handicapped should be treated as one whole group of the handicapped, and I cannot separate them and write on them separately in my essay...
Before the session ended, she gave us an article to photocopy and do as remedial hmwk. So we went to the photocopy shop and asked for 5 copies.. it only costs us 15 cents... and here comes the trouble! And Mathematics alone is not sufficient to solve this million dollar question.

If there are 5 copies to be given each to 5 people and it costs a total of 15 cents.. how do we separate the cost!? You may say 3 cents each... but if you think about it again and put yourself in our shoes... you will realise the seriousness and the complicated-ness of this problem... HOW ON EARTH DO YOU GET 1 CENT COINS IN THIS ERA OF THE 21ST CENTURY!?!?!!?!??!?!?!
Don't be mistaken. Finding 1 cent coin isnt the real problem... the huge task sitting ahead of us is HOW DO U FIND THREE 5 cent coins EACH (15 one-cent coins?!)

So we ended up incorporating Economics in our quest to solve this problem. We have introduced the free-rider problem! So tc, rebecca and yian paid 5 cents each.

Yian absorbed the cost for me cause he was supposed to treat us to a meal as he passed his Chinese A levels, as promised. But isn't this 3 cent meal a little bit tad too cheap?!

Okay, so this shall be the question to ponder over the weekends: Is this 3 cent meal worth it?
Happy pondering and don't fall into the pond while pondering!

Chapter 225: Weekend Review

Another round of weekend review! Manchester United has beaten Bolton 1-0 thanks to Dimitar Berbatov, who tapped in a parried shot from Nani in the 88th minute.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Arsenal is held to a 2-2 draw at West Brom... but West Brom was 2-0 up at 70th minute...
Chelsea and Liverpool both won 2-0 against opponents Manchester City and Sunderland respectively.

I wasted some of my efforts on Sunday night, rushing through Chem SPA planning Exercise 4 after receiving a shock sms from the class ldr about the need to complete it... The worksheet was received 1000000 years ago... and the teacher had said that we need not do it yet. Even before the hols, the teacher did not mention about it, despite it being stored in cold storage. So the sms felt like another nuclear reactor exploding to me... cause time was ticking and its 8 plus... and what's worse is that I have yet to embark on my Maths powerpoint presentation. :/ What's worse is that the teacher said that its ok if we didnt complete that...

As for the Maths powerpoint presentation, I worked on it since 9 plus till around 11... and the teacher said that the presentation will only be done next friday.. LIKE WHAT!?! I rushed through everything when it isnt really necessary at that point of time...

---

Moving on to today, Monday.

We started off with Maths lesson, followed by the civics lesson. During the civics lesson, the teacher mistakenly dismissed us just after half an hr, when the lesson was supposed to be one full solid hour. She realised the mistake and came back looking for us 15 mins from time and asked us to write our SGCs.

During Chemistry lesson, my teacher was saying "What's the use of giving the people iodine in Japan?" The first thing that came to my mind was "To test them for starch." and i told that to the guys.
Then binghui added that the people will all turn blue black upon consuming the iodine.
Well, in actual fact, it prevents thyroid cancer.

Then came the Econs lecture. And then followed by the Biology Lecture.

The topic for Bio Lecture was Diversity and Evolution. We were shown pokemon pictures. Most importantly, pikachu. The lecturer said that pikachu's evolution to raichu was not really evolution. (sounds ironic but it's true)
Then the lecturer made a misconception! He said that pikachu will keep on fighting, gain level and evolve. This is totally false! He didnt get his facts right. Pikachu evolve only through the use of the thunderstone!
After he was corrected, he said "through the use of a yellow stone" ITS THUNDERSTONE!
By the way, what happened to Pichu?

Then he went on to compare pokemons like pikachu, zapdos, charizard and another pokemon which is from the more advanced generation (the lecturer didnt know its name... and so did I... I think its called Cyndaquil.
He was comparing the traits of thunder and fire... and the zigzag, the tail, etc etc blah blah blah.. which was never-ending until the cows come home.

After leaving for home. I left home again to meet up with Bing Hui to go for a jog around the estate. We jogged for about 1.2km and went for some basic trainings like push-ups, etc etc (Secret training schedule cannot be revealed to the General Public! :)
Went to his house after that to get a drink of 100plus, only to be interrupted halfway through this secret mission!

His dog likes to follow me around and it likes to turn around in circles for some wierd reason that is un-explainable even by its owner. Before leaving his house, the dog made contact with my leg and I feel something wet.. I think it licked me ..

Went home after that. My hands feel power-less now...

Chapter 224: Middle of Hols

We have arrived at the midpoint of holidays. If you use a sword and cut holidays into half, you can imagine what I'm talking about. If that isnt that clear to u, imagine the first day of holidays as point A, last day of holiday as point B, point C is the midpoint of AB, which is the middle point of the holidays.

First off, we have Manchester United going into the last 8 of the Champions League after defeating Marsielle 2-1 (aggregate 2-1). All thanks to both goals from Javier Hernandez.. here we have a case of own goal.

Talking about own goals, I have something to share.
Team A's player(s) scored 2 goals and Team B's player(s) scored 3 goals but Team A won, why?
Well, its quite obvious now as I have already given the preamble to this...
Its because one of the goals for Team B is an own goal, thus Team A 3-2 Team B. Thus, Team A wins.

Moving on to Economics. Don't worry, I won't give u any big theory about exchange rate, fiscal policy or whatsoever blah blah blah.
In my tutorial, there are some essay questions. Beside those questions, there wrote "Please do not attempt this on your own!"

You know what that means?

It meant u need to attempt this question with someone else!!
Now u can give the excuse to the teacher that the dog ate my homework! (cause u can claim that I did my hmwk with my dog. This is because the question asks us to not attempt on our own, therefore, i chose to attempt it with my pet... however, it ended up eating my hmwk!!!)
Brilliant plan ;) Isn't it?

Oh, and the chemistry project requires us to propose something to extract copper from bronze and brass. The method required has got to be electrochemistry! And there is the need for us to write about the safety precautions.. which is hard.. I really couldn't think of anything except for getting electric shock.. or write there "HAZARD! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DRINKING THE COPPER SULFATE ELECTROLYTE."

I hope I have a machine to expand the holidays. 1 week seems too short.

Chapter 223: Weekend Review

To begin with, Man Utd beat Arsenal 2-0!!! Thanks to goals from Fabio and Rooney. :)
This will be a big boost to their morale ahead of Marseille (or however u spell it)'s game. Hopefully, they will win the FA cup eventually.

---

I miss singing... with my current voice, I'm unable to hit high pitches... and my voice is deep.. I consulted the doctor today.. hope to recover from my sore throat...
It's terrible not being able to sing songs at home..

---

On Sunday, I went to NUS Open House 2011. I went to listen to the talk on computing science. Career prospects look good. No programming background necessary. BUT their 10th percentile grade from JC is ABBB... I really need to depend heavily on my Mathematics to secure the A... but i have yet to do so in any major JC exams.. I think that if i fail to get A for Maths, I can forget about getting it for the other subjects...
And whats scary is that 3B... although they are ideal for good results.. they seem difficult to obtain..
And of course, alot of goodies to take! And even stickies for free! Without the hassle to go down to Clarke Quay.. well, NUS is far too anyways..
Someone asked me to do a survey and i hate answering him with my screwed-up voice..
Anyways i got something which i forgot what it is for completing the survey.

---

The long-awaited holidays are finally here! But so are the accuracy of my predictions. The homework pile. If we drop those homework into Japan again, we can create another Tsunami and 8.9 magnitude (or even higher!) earthquake.

Anyways its quite sad to hear about the Earthquake and Tsunami... and what makes things worse is the radioactive generated from the explosion of the Nuclear Plants.. Disadvantages of nuclear power...

Ok, I shall spare u the details of the disaster as that's the job of the media and not me.

Chapter 222: The ruined Sports Day

If you noticed, this chapter number is 222, which is a special number! Therein brings the need for a special edition! And in this special edition, there will be 222 facts revealed!

Ok just joking. I dont have any facts to reveal.

So, lets begin this very special edition #222 with something not-so-special.
The sports day is ruined.
The efforts are going down the drain...

The refreshments people (a.k.a. refreshers)
You might ponder... why are refreshments people called the refreshers.. Now let me ask you.
What do you call a person who teach? Teacher
What do you call a person who drives? Driver
What do you call a person who kills? Killer.
What do you call a person who smokes? Smoker.
So what do you call a person who does refreshments? Refresher.

Okay, so the refreshers have wasted time cutting, arranging, stamping those refreshments coupon which are just deemed as waste papers after the sports day. Whats more is that they are not used at all... the sports day is cancelled and no one received any refreshments or should i say no one claimed the refreshments...

I guess the refreshments coupon can be used as rough paper now.. for doing anything..
Thats not all. We have also carried out packets of H2Os after packets... and put in water and ice and etc etc etc... Alot of work is done for nothing.. efficiency? 0%.
So all the water and ice goes down the drain. $ for the ice wasted.

So we retrieved the drinks out from the icy cold water... its so cold that ur hand gets numb... and we carried back all the drinks to the stores etc etc.

Ok, before we kept, some of us went to rehearse for the ceremony as we're winners of the completed 4X400m event. Anyways the rehearsal has gone to waste too.. since they just cancelled it after the rehearsal and gave us our medals...

And there is free flow of milo from the milo van. I drank 5 cups as its free LOL. Binghui tried to be funny and drank 25 cups of milo... (ehh wait, or is it 35?)

Anyways its just a waste. We carry drinks to and fro w/o distributing a single packet of drink... the coupons.. wasted. We cant get hold of the drinks too :(

Went for cca after that. My cca-mates meddled with their OrcGanic competition while I went meddling with flash and recapping the concepts of masking and motion guide.
I coughed alot still.. maybe because of the chill in the lab... and I still havent got my voice back. I have tried typing "/find voice" alot of times (like how u would find a person in maplestory.) But it always return "Unable to find voice."

Anyways, I got news that our sch won 1st for the OrcGanic Competition. Congrats to them.
And for AJ Idol, vote for De Imprea if you can. A quote from bh on this team goes: "Vote de imprea. I don't know who are they, but i heard they're awesome."

Chapter 221: Mega Edition

To start off, negative things have been happening recently... and under the theory of "Life is Fair" that I presented way back in early chapters of around chapter 10-20, good things will start to surface soon... real soon...

The first negative thing that struck me was MT A Levels.. I failed to get an A, just like how I failed to get A1 for O levels... I was always one grade down for some reason that cannot be explained with science. Well, I dont think I'll be retaking, I am already living in a Chineseless-exam-life.

Moving on to the second thing. Captain's ball. It was an interhouse competition and we were defeated 1-0. This is sad to say as we have waited for the competition at 5.20 when our lessons ended much earlier at 1 plus?

Let's interrupt this with a special review about my friend's house. Before the capt ball competition, I accompanied my friend back to his house as he has forgotten to bring his house tee. My friend shall not be named to protect him from being kidnapped. His house was a whooping 1 hour journey away from school. Lets begin from where we alighted from the bus. He tapped his wallet against a reader, gate opens. Then comes the carpark area, where you have to turn here, turn there, turn everywhere, turn anywhere and you're lost. It's like a highly-sophiscated maze to the lift... The lift requires to tap the card as well... And when u walk into the lift, u need to tap the card again then press the floor number. One of the 2 lift doors will open upon reaching. And u only see one SINGLE unit there... all to themselves... to the point where u can leave any valuables whatsoever at the corridor, cause no one gets access to it! And the house is big... and there are 2 swimming pools downstairs... rich kids... And we watched him play dota until time was up and we headed back for school. It can be said that his house is an impenetrable fortress. The security systems are damn high tech and secure..

Back to the main point. The third negative thing is that Man Utd lost 3-1 to Liverpool. Things are worse as they played terribly and Nani was injured. However, some thing nice to hear is that Arsenal was defeated 3-1 at the Nou Camp to Barcelona.

The fourth negative thing is that I have contracted fever on Saturday, that explains why weekend review wasnt up this week.. It recovered on Monday, but I'm down to cough... and currently I'm starting to lose my voice ... and I did a GP Presentation today without a proper voice... (This will be further explained in the next paragraphs.)

The forecast predicted fifth negative thing has got to be hmwk during the March Holidays, under the hands of the unforgiving ruthless teachers...

During the sexuality education panel discussion, bh wrote this question: "My friend is gay. I feel awkward communicating with him, what should I do?" The Councillor said that "you should get him to set some boundaries." Bh immediately turned to josh and said "I think that we need to set some boundaries."

Moving on to today's GP Presentation, I can conclude that simple is perfect. My simple animation has successfully entertained the hearts of many. The bad thing is that I'm presenting with a screwed up voice... even myself feel weird hearing it when i was presenting... And my hands were shaking a little.. btw, I was presenting on the topic of the Crusades. My animation was about how Christopher Columbus found America.
It was this GP Presentation that made me post this chapter this late... if not it would possibly have been up by monday already... I cant post it on Sunday as I have econs test on monday..
Oh and I was required to present earlier thanks to Yian who screwed up... his powerpoint presentation file was corrupted and could not be open up at all... So he will do it the next day while I suffer the fate of early-presentation.. it hit me unprepared as I had that 8 mins barrier still in me at that point of time. (Each presentation takes 8 mins)

(Pre-Warning: Following paragraph not suitable for reading for the faint-hearted.)
Bio remedial today was conducted at LT5. It is said that that place is haunted.. they claimed that someone died there choking on fishball? Then Mr. Poh started by saying that two cold hands will touch you. Then he carried on the joke by saying "Who's that person behind you?" Actually nothing was there -.- When TC who came in later tried to sit down, my friend asked him "not to sit on Tom". (when TC was trying to sit on an empty seat.) It just goes on and on. Mr Poh still said that he is doing this illegally as a Lecture Theatre cannot be used unless at least 40 students are there. Then bh jokingly said that "Huh, why got so many people?" *looks around frantically* When class ended, someone still went to switch off the lights... leaving the place in complete darkness. Ok, enough of all this. Moving on...

A random thought came to my mind when I was bathing. Imagine if a crisis struck your school and you are allowed to save only 20 people from the school, all the others will die. Who will you save?
I pondered over it awhile and couldnt really decide... It was a tough decision.

For some strange reason, I'm excited about Track and Field Meet on Friday...
Maybe because I can have freeflow of drinks at the refreshments area :)

Oh and to end off, bh and his team were dancing today afternoon at the canteen area to publicise their AJIdol participation. Support him if u can by voting for him if you are an AJCian.

Chapter 220: Last second week of Term 1

On a side note, it was sad to say but Man U was defeated by Chelsea 1-2 at Stamford Bridge again...

Lets move on to the topic.
Firstly, our class is one of the classes that is doing the Track and Field Helpers.
One bright monday and we got scolded for our punctuality issues and attendance for the track and field events... Most of us arrive late for a million reasons under the sun. And there are occasions where we cant make it. And not to mention about clashes with other schedules..

So, some of us are doing refreshments duty. And the first thing for us to do is to work on the coupons! We have to stamp the coupons using the college ink, then cut, then sort them. We completed all these within 2 days. Around 10 mins for the stamping.. 1 ++ hr for the cutting and another 1++ hr for the sorting. Btw, Yian was the IC after getting sabotage.
And the bad thing is that he gt scolded when he approached the teacher at the PE Dept. He didnt greet the teacher. Thats all.

Enough of this track and field stuffs. Let's move on to the ever-interesting-and-enticing-lessons!
During GP, my teacher shared with us how she speaks to strangers in buses... and she claimed that she prefers speaking to guys as girls can appear to be quite hostile to her.
She likes talking to foreigners.. and she even spoke to a Bangladeshi worker once...
Wow, thats considered a great deal...

Maybe she has yet to experience the bus ride I have been through all this while.. I call it the Bus Ride to School! It was rather horrible.. Almost 40% of the bus will be packed by foreign workers by some busstop.. and its crowded to the extent that i feel transformed into a sardine.
Its a pain as there is difficulty finding balance.. there are no poles to grab as they block it..

Tomorrow's gonna be a big day for alot of people.. and a worrying day for me..
I hope that the AJ hall is capable of withstanding a possible flood.
But whether a flood will occur remains a mystery till tmr... Looking on the bright side, maybe, people will be jumping in joy tmr.. once again I hope the hall can withstand the weight...
And chinese results will be out for me... It is scary, considering the event that occured back in sec 4. I hope I wont be as upset as that time when the teacher said "A2" to me -.-
Hopefully, retaking is not necessary.. it is a choice that is worth considering.. after learnin this lesson from O levels...
In the O levels, I chose to live with the A2 grade.. in the end, ppl who got B3 and retook managed to secure A2 and A1... its like what the hell?
