Chapter 254: The Comprehensive Cross Country Review

Lessons as usual, usual boring stuffs, so no need for elaboration.

Last lesson was economics tutorial. Went to change and set off with yian and some girls from the class. Took the mrt, all of us came to an agreement to come in a circle around a pole and all of us holding it. The greatest and best usage of the mrt pole ever possible in history. Oh, speaking about that... must record.. in Guiness Book of Records.

We alighted at Dhoby Ghaut Station. Walked around, looking for places to eat. But it was difficult to find many seats available.. Pizza Hut has the long waiting time that we could not afford to spend, so we settled for Mos Burger in the end. So the 8 of us, me, yian, joey, jasmine, jacquelyn, chengmei, charmaine, pamelyn, went to order. I ate chicken burger meal. Then halfway through, I received a call from Josh, asking for our location. But too bad I did not have any coordinates to give him.

Anyways, it was then that I realised that place was Plaza Singapura, I had went there few weeks ago.. forgot on which occasion or which day.. no wonder the familiarity.

We then set off back to the station and travelled to Nicoll Highway Station before following the crowd to the F1 pit.

Then came the cross country.. the meal of Mos Burger proved too much for me to take.. I felt uneasy running after the meal, but thankfully, the feeling was not very strong and I could push on the run. The run was done for charity, a dollar for a kilometre. The distance is freestyle, min 3 for females, 4 for males, GENDER DISCRIMINATION!
After the run, everyone had the freewill to continue the run to clock more distances. All these, however, need to be done in 30 mins?

Yian by right shuldnt be running, but he says he feels ok, so he accompanied us for the run. So, Teck Chuan (tc), yian and I ran together initially during the Cross Country.

Someway through, we saw Mr. Wee (former Maths teacher) and Mr. Ong (Head of GP) running infront of us.
I turned to tc and said "If we overtake them, we can get A for our GP and Maths."
After a short while, Mr Wee actually spoke... "You all must really work hard to get that A for your Maths." (oops I think he heard me :X Its hard to control your volume when running I suppose...)

Then came the first turning point where (dy/dx) = 0.
Collected the rubber band, turned back and ran.

By the way, before we reached the turn, I already saw Matthew running back :X Pure imbalanced. (FYI: He finished second in the run for the ENTIRE cohort of J1 and J2 Boys.)

So we headed back to the finishing point, get the first chop on our hands and tc asked me to do 1 more km. I agreed and we went for it. Surprisingly, this 5km run seemed better than the one last year (where the distance we ran is LESS than 5km). This is weird.. the run this year seemed easier and better than last year.. I dont understand why.

After our second chop, we went to take a cup of plain water drink, before collecting H-TWO-O drink with our coupons. Yian and I then went for 3 cups of milo :D
Bing Hui (bh) was spared the run as he was dancing that day.

Then there was this part where questions were asked and prizes were to be given away. bh had sneakily seen the answer to 1 of the questions. He went up close to the front, in order to storm to the front to answer that question when it was being asked to receive the prize. When that question was really asked, things went haywire, it didnt go his way. Earlier on, he told Jacquelyn the answer already and thats it, he was beaten to it LOL. He said she betrayed him and called her a traitor.

Btw, the question was how high is the Singapore Flyer, measured in terms of giraffes.
31 giraffes was the answer.

In the end, due to "corruption", both of them got the prize.

Matthew, bh, yian and I then went to eat dinner at Popeye's.
We ordered a meal that costs 29.90 and its meant for 4 people, eh just nice!
We went home after that.

And that marks the end of the Cross Country 2011.

Chapter 253: Pre Cross Country

Tomorrow is the day where a huge cross will erupt on the lands of Singapore, as AJC is going to do a Cross Country. It is also a day where we go across our country! And the best thing is that we can do it by running merely 3-6 km. What an achievement, what a feat, must record! in the Guiness Book of Records.

I hope I can be as resilient as last year. Last year cross country, I had the benefit of Junfeng (jf) running with me, who keeps on encouraging me not to give up despite chronic stitches at the early minutes of the run... Thanks to that, I am able to persevere and complete my run. This year, all those become a fantasy that will not come true. He has left the college, and Yian is on doubt for running as he has sprained his leg weeks ago and had grabbed a 6-week PE excuse...
I wish I can complete the run within the stipulated time of 30 mins.

I have thought of a wonderful excuse for people to listen to songs using their earpieces when travelling. It will alert you when someone steals your phone/musicplayer/etc as it will effectively detach the player from your earpiece and cutting off the song. Nice tip, isn't it? Lets work towards anti-theft today!

During CCA yesterday, we did a survey on the CCA. There was this question: "If you are part of the EXCO, what will you do to bring up the image of Cxtreme?"
My cca-mate wrote this: "I would contact the MAE (Mediacorp Advertising Enquiries) and ask them to promote Cxtreme to let everyone in Singapore know about it."

One fine day, I was asking my mum where something was. She answered "橱的第三格". I searched awhile before answering "huh? 什么？我只知道藏经阁"

Chapter 252: Epic Bio Lecture

Today I went through yet another epic bio lecture by Mr. Poh.
He went through the lecture normally, with his usual jokes, and suddenly came the big surprise.
He asked the whole lecture to look at the bottom of their chairs as he has planted something there... I thought it was a joke. But he really did plant on some 3-4 random unlucky people's chair.
After they found the paper, as if they had found treasure, Mr Poh asked them to read it.

One went something like "Hey, Mr. Poh, I love answering your questions"
Another went "Choose me, choose me, I want to answer your questions."
(and the other 2 with some pemutations and combinations of that similar sense and fashion.)

The scene was just damn epic and funny.

After the end of the lecture, he said that another teacher is going to continue with the lecture the next lesson as he needs to prepare for his marriage LOL.

After sch, my classmates and I went to eat Long John Silvers. I ordered the 1 pc chicken and 1 pc fish. Technically, its my second time finishing eating fish, after 18 years of lifetime.

And so... Man U has clinched the 19th EPL title successfully :)
Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham have to face the relegation.

Champions League next, and then break for the EPL.

Chapter 251: The Manhattan Experience

Once in a while, while eating out with my parents, my dad will ask me to shift the table. Careful not to fall for the trick, I will always look down first. The million dollar question is what am I looking for?



Walking inside Tampines Mall, into a shop called "Aussino". My mum and I came across the word "bedskirt". My mum asked me what that was.
I answered: "bedskirt 就是床的裙子。 bed 是床， skirt 是裙子， bedskirt 就是床的裙子！ 哦，原来床也要穿裙子。那个床就是女的，如果你的床是男的就不可以买。"

My dad told me that Singaporeans are fond of 2 things. The first being complaining, the second being joining in long queues for offers/free stuffs/etc. This spells trouble for me, I might lose my Singaporean status as I do not possess both attributes.

When I was eating at a food court, I saw a man daringly leaving his key on the table... He didnt use that to chope the place.. his friend had already left a bag there on the chairs.. So idk for what purpose the key serves.. Infering from what I had known from the show "国际交易所“, the key would have disappeared if the same situation happened in other countries... but thank goodness Sg's safe.

And there was this epic scene in class on Friday. It has got nothing to do with Rebecca Black, so you can stop your search for ear plugs. During economics tutorial, a group was tasked with a question. After writing the points on the board, the whole group went back to their seats to sit down. Then Mr Lim asked "Am I supposed to present?"

And today is College Day.
It has drained our afternoon time. A time where could have been utilised for homework... much opportunity costs here. For these, the school should compensate us with "excuse homework". But obviously thats too good to be true.
So we just had to bear through the whole thing. The principal address, the Guest of Honour address, the award ceremony, the performances..

Went to Bishan after the College Day Event with Yian and Bh. It is a historical moment for me, its a breakthrough. This is known as the Finale! This is also known as the Manhattan Experience.
So the 3 of us walked in and sat down. And the order? 3 Fish and Chips.
First came a soup. Its a type of sotong/squid soup.. the taste is fine and after much persuasion, I ate down the "meat". Thankfully, its seemingly tasteless.
Then come the main dish. The fish.. something I've been struggling with for consumption all my 18 years of life. And today finally, we have seen a breakthrough. Thus, today is a day that is branded more important than anything else (including the death of Osama, the GRC breakthrough by Worker's Party and the reshuffling of the Cabinet.) And I don't feel any sense of vomitting, which is a good sign considering my natural psychological barrier.
Yes! Finally I have finished an entire piece of fish meat. :)
The best thing is that bh and I got a $10 waiver each from yian as he owed us a treat worth $10 for passing his Chinese A levels exam. So the amount payable was reduced to 7. bh offered to pay for me as my belated birthday gift.
And that concludes the Manhattan experience.
Oh, if you're wondering what is Manhattan experience, Manhattan Fish Market is the outlet we ate in. Imbalanced coined word? Maybe.

Chapter 250: Weekend Review

It's official. It's confirmed, the Guangzhou people have just signed it.
(This was a phrase from a TV advertisement very long time ago.. during my pri sch era.)

Officially, Man Utd head on for their 19th EPL title! :)
They have beaten Liverpool's record of 18.
Meanwhile,
Liverpool suffered 2-0 defeat to Tottenham
Arsenal taste defeat as well and Chelsea are held to a draw at Newcastle.
If only they had known Chelsea will draw their match.. there is no need for Man U to even draw that match, they could jolly well afford to lose it LOL.
But anyways Man Utd crowned EPL 2010/2011 champions with 77 points and one game to go and 6 points ahead of runnersup Chelsea.

I wasted my Sunday studying for a Bio Test on Respiration and Photosynthesis.. when the test is on Wednesday and not Monday...
Why did Mr Poh said it will be either Monday or Wednesday...
Studying on Sunday was thus the best plan, but now it is proven otherwise..

Anyways I spent my Saturday out with my parents to Parkway Parade and then Bugis. Bought new earpiece, while my sis got 2, its 3 for 10 dollars. And I concluded my day after watching Man U match and doing Chemistry Class Assessment worksheet.. I slept at a record timing of 2.30am. Don't be mistaken, I dont mean that is the latest time I slept.. I mean that is the latest time I will do homework until..
I can sleep later than that..

The most classical and favourite example I would like to showcase is the class chalet 2 years ago. It was when I took the word "sleep" out of my dictionary. Some of us braved thru the night and to the morning without sleeping AT ALL, and went cycling at 2am with Jefferson and Daniel Yeap LOL. In the morning, we set off early to bring our foreign classmates to the airport, where they wait for their flights (obviously) back to their hometowns. In simple words, we're sending them off.
Then, we went to eat breakfast at macs before going back at noon and to do nothing but SLEEP! So that was technically the latest time I slept.

Chapter 248, 249: Errors, Errors and Errors

Error found to be corrected. As of 16 May 9pm.

Apparently the chapter 248 that I posted few days ago disappeared mysteriously..
So I have to retype that chapter :X

However, I dont feel like doing so, so I'm just gonna retype the first 2 parts.

A teacher walked into an empty classroom, no one was inside, the lights and fans were still on. Furious, the teacher gathered the whole class and scolded, "Who did not switch off the lights and the fans?" One brave boy stood up, not to apologise or own up, but said "Everyone didnt off the lights nor the fans, thats why they are still on."

In another scenario, a mother was asking her daughter, "did daddy and brother went to the toilet?" The girl pondered a while and replied "maybe they did". She paused a while more before adding "maybe they didnt"

It is probably the doing of Friday the 13th.
It started off with the mysteriously disappearing act of chapter 248, coupled with blogger error.
The 2nd error came when the bus timings this morning was screwed up... I went to my usual bus stop at the usual time and usual place.. but the bus was late (typical reason for being late, but its true.) And then it came around 10 mins past the normal time... and it was a single decker bus .. sianz. Thank goodness I was not late for school
The 3rd error came during CCA .. for the past few fri sessions we are dismissed at around 6. But today, the teacher just got to come in and talk to us.. and later, we still need to stay back to wait for announcement.. and it lasts till around 6.20++

Errors after errors, must be the doing of Friday the 13th!

Chapter 248:

A teacher walks into an empty classroom and finds out that the fans and lights were not switched off. Furious, the teacher went to assemble the whole class and asked "who did not switch off the lights and fans?" A brave student stood up, not to admit it was him nor was he apologetic for it, he merely said "Everybody didnt switch it off, thats why its still on."

In another scenario, a mother asked her daughter, "Did daddy and brother went in to the gents?" The daughter thought for awhile and replied "maybe they did." She paused for a moment before adding "maybe they didnt."

Today, I have finally managed to score through lay-ups in basketball and I did it thrice. Its an amazing feat for me.
Its also an amazing discovery! Maybe I should record it in the Book of Records.

Recently, I took Bio and Chem SPA. Finally no more labs :) How I hated practical work lol. Bio SPA was ok, quite similar to prespa. Chem was not as good as time is the major issue... had to rush, had to be "fast and furious".

Chapter 247: Weekend Review

I made an astonishing achievement by not touching my comp for 2 consecutive days and its not due to exams..
I spent my Saturday in my grandparents house in the afternoon and watching 少年四大名捕 before watching the General Elections 2011. [to be elaborated later]
I spent my Sunday out at Plaza Singapura with my family, celebrating Mother's　Day. At night, I caught the last episode of 少年四大名捕. Then, I went to finish up my Vectors Tutorial before watching the clash between Manchester United and Chelsea. This match was arguably the title decider and its of utmost importance. By the time I watched, Javier Hernandez had already put Man U 1-0 up. Then I witnessed Vidic's header which made it 2-0. And of course, the saddening goal by Frank Lampard. Thankfully it ended 2-1. And it is time to party!
I went to bed after watching some reviews, and that is why I spent 2 days without my computer. Anyways its most probably Man U for the 19th title!!! :D

To add on to the joy, Arsenal was defeated 1-3 to stoke :D

General Elections 2011 Review

As you might know, its PAP 81, WP 6, NSP 0,SDP 0, SDA 0, RP 0, SPP 0

Its a historic moment for the opposition as its the first time they have secured a GRC. But there are implications to consider as well... PAP has lost Aljunied GRC to the Worker's Party... not only that, we have lost George Yeo as the Foreign Minister.. we have lost Zainul as the probable Speaker of the Parliament before the election results... From what I have seen from the newspapers, ASEAN members are disappointed and saddened to hear that Mr George Yeo has lost in the GE as he is great in their eyes.. So.. it's just saddening to lose a great foreign minister..

I live in the Punggol East SMC area, where Michael Palmer defeated his challengers (Lee Li Lian and Desmond Lim). Its quite a pity that Desmond Lim lost his deposit for the Elections due to a mere 1000+ votes... but thats the cruelty of a 3 way fight. Anyways, I'm glad that Mr Michael Palmer won. I got a shock when I heard that Lee Li Lian from WP has 12000+ votes... (thinking there are only 20k voters..) But it was overcomed within seconds when Mr Palmer secured 16000+ votes.

Anyways whats over is over. I can't wait to vote in GE 2016 LOL.

I got a very bad birthday present from Manchester United...
Anyways, I spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday slacking.. so I ended up chionging all my hmwk on Monday (yesterday)... which proved to be quite a bad plan...

Class today as per normal. I can see that my shooting (basketball) has improved a little, thankfully :)
Mass civics on University Talk Discussion with some of the deans. Seems like psychology is quite a popular course, second to medicine. Actually psychology seems like an easy job.. Earning through pure talking. Maybe it isnt that simple after all considering the need for further studies after uni to ensure a psychology job.

Anyways the plan to eat fish today has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Till then, I will make a breakthrough in my dieting history!
