Chapter 280: Prelim Review

The first day of Prelims kicked off with GP papers 1 & 2. The essay - I'm unsure if my work is okay and appreciated.. in the end of the day, the results will tell it all... The compre was abit difficult too... (I cant really recall already)
Bio P2 was also on that day...and it was a tough paper with alot of diagrams... It was real bad as the GP papers before it were really mentally draining... really depends on stamina.

The second day was Econs paper. After so much mental draining, what's left is spent studying econs...and of course the tired factor kicks in and ... Econs was ok (i hope), but the essay was tough. I think I chose the wrong question for essay... haiz.

The third day was Maths Paper 2 (if I am not wrong). It was horrifying. The legendary Maths paper by the AJ Dept again... the last and final battle against them... and they just didnt give us hope...

Fourth day was Chemistry Paper 3. Relatively tough in my opinion...

Fifth day was Biology paper 3, which was easier than the paper 2, but the planning was ... bad (after hearing from a teacher that a Benedict's test must be done...)

The following Monday was Chemistry paper 2. Not that bad considering there is a weekend break and paper 3 was already over. It was easier than paper 3, but that does not mean a sure score...

Tuesday was Maths Paper 1, having already slaughtered left right center, the hopes of this paper pulling paper 2 marks up is dim.

Wednesday was Biology paper 1, go to sch for a 1hr 15 mins MCQ and thats it... Results for this paper was disappointing...

Thursday was the final paper Chem paper 1. And I dont understand how does this deserve only an hour when phy and bio can receive 1hr 15 mins... this is just... racing against time.

---

After exams on Thursday, the class went for a game of captain's ball. We played among ourselves first before going against another class. It seemed like we scored more, thanks to the imbalanced efforts of the class.

Then we went to AMK for lunch before watching "Johnny English Reborn"* there. It was indeed entertaining, funny and worth it for just $6.

We then headed to Pamelyn's house to continue our movie fest. We watched the show "Death at a funeral"* and "Facing the Giants"* , before heading home for dinner.

Chapter 279: The Long Journey

Its been awhile, don't mistaken, prelims are not over yet. I am utilising this weekend break to bring you the latest news possible.

A few days ago (or weeks), my friend posted on facebook that ‎"you tricked an innocent guy". And the reply?

In this statement, only the "an" is true.

--

A supervisor brought a group of workers to a forest. He said to the workers "I want you all to cut half of the trees here." The supervisor then left the vicinity.
Upon returning after 3 hours, only 1 tree is cut down and the workers are nowhere in sight. Why?

--

Exams were not so friendly, especially with teachers who set papers with the motto of set to kill, and leave as little survivors as possible. This is especially so in the Maths paper. It is plain sick. To bring out the extent of its sickness, I shall quote from some of what my friends said.

Quote: "The CIA should include the AJ Math paper as one of the options in their CIA torture book. I'm sure we can defeat Al Qaeda with it."

Another quote: "Parents should not resort to corporate punishment and punish their kids with canes. They should be equipped with AJ Math paper."

These are quoted from my friends and are thus not my works.

You might ask, what are my views on it? This shall be my answer:

"Doing AJC Maths paper is like 明知山有虎,偏向虎山行"

Despite all this, there will still be (I believe) imbalanced people (or simply sick) who still manage excellent results in these papers... They are infamously well-known as the people who spoil the market. Thus, there is a strong need to correct them with market failure policies.'

--

Now to move on to the happier aspects. Went to eat lunch at Long John Silvers today with Darren and Desmond. The counter-staff was very nice and friendly, and he goes by the name of Webster. Funny name I know, but good service, strongly recommended to visit. (Rivervale Mall Outlet by the way.)

We then went to Daiso to play around, although that isnt recommended at all and it's a negative example for kids, haha.

--

At the later part of the day, we went to Kovan to see Darren off for tuition. Then, Nich khaw and I had the craziest of the craziest idea (ok, maybe not to crazy people.) We decided to walk home from Kovan. Nk decided to accompany me till Rivervale Plaza before taking bus home (LOL, what a waste of energy I know and the same bus fare haha) Nevertheless, it was good exercise and chat between us. And the journey home from Kovan was indeed superbly long and crazy... I was perspiring all over when I reached home and then....

My parents decided that we shall go to Kovan today... And if you read the earlier part close enough and clearly... you would have known why this idea just owned me totally...

--

4 more papers to go, and 2 being the MCQ papers (which the primary concern is time for chem MCQ...)
Anyways, the next post shall be after prelims and about the papers... more extensive review and coverage.

Chapter 278: And it comes again...

Person A peeks at the phone of Person B.
Person B withdrew his phone and said "Hey, do you know what is privacy?"
Person A replied "Oh, I left privacy in the toilet."
Person B goes ...
Person A added "What? Are you telling me that you dont have privacy in the toilet?"

This is supposedly the last post... till the end of Prelims 2011... Haiz, it's coming at me again... I'm starting to hate exams more and more... forces me to study (which I dislike), and eats up all my leisure time (esp. computer time). Exams after exams... its a endless cycle.

And after that comes the Legendary A levels... and then a small break before isolation from the world for 2 years (or 22 months to be exact.)

Anyways, specialist review comin on thursday, hoping for a miracle to ease my 22 months period...

This is probably the last post till the end of Prelims, so I would advise you against checking back in the mean time. For your info, Prelims end at 23 Sept at around 9am (I think).

And then, there will be a comprehensive (if the mood doesnt kill it) review on the Prelim Exams.

Meanwhile, its time to start studying on Monday... after the chem planning lecture... Till then.

Chapter 277: Teachers Day

I just came over to post after viewing Nich Khaw's blog, my eyes hurt because of the colour contrast.. suddenly all white after a sea of orange among the black.
To start off, I went to school as per normal to AJC. We started off by dancing... cause its ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) Day. When my primary sch cousin got to know of this, he exclaimed in wonder that "You all still have ACES day ah? I thought for pri sch only."
Lol, this reminds me of last yr's ACES day - a complete failure - where only a negligible minority danced... and this year the situation is a little better..
After the boring stuff, here comes the ... less boring stuff...
The celebrations.
At the hall.

First up we have a performance by 3 guys, 1 of them is from my class, 1 of them is from my Orientation Group and the last guy is from... I dont know him.
They sang the song "听老师的话", which is an edited version of "听妈妈的话" by the best singer on Earth, Jay Chou. No, there are no sweeping statements at all here, everything here are the facts.
The lyrics were not bad.

Then come several performances, etc etc, and the last part was the dance category. A group of random people started dancing and then come De Imprea (the winner of dance category for AJ Idol) and then another group of randomers.

Finally it was over. Cards were written during the performances btw. So its time to distribute them. Strangely, they wanted to give PE teachers too.. so, Yian, Binghui and I went to the PE Dept to hand the card over to Mr. Tay, who looked stunned to receive the card.
Then, we gave the card to our GP tutor, Mrs Chng. There, we met Darren, who was giving his self-baked cupcakes to the teachers, including Mrs Chng. She was very impressed with Darren for the self-baked-cupcakes-that-made-him-sleep-at-5am. How thoughtful of him, Mrs Chng seemed to say/imply. When taking photo, Darren helped us took the class photo, and he asked Yian to stand closer. Mrs Chng immediately added that yian is Mr. Untidy (due to his infamous handwriting, an art piece worthy of the museum)

Then I ran off to join my friends to return back to Xinmin.
We went to find the teachers (obviously). We started off with bumping into Mr. Tan Boon Hai (my History teacher who relieved Mr. Pah when he went to the States). He was a great teacher too, that time he was a trainee teacher with a meagre pay, yet he still chose to treat the whole History class to Burger King. That time, we were still grumbling about how that would have been impossible with our then E Maths Teacher (we nicknamed him Mr Utterly Hopeless).
Mr Tan seemed to forget our names.. he took a few moments to start recalling Darren, then Desmond and he pointed to me. Stop. Think. Think. Think (Jimmy Neutron makes a special appearance here.) Luckily he remembered Nicholas. And so on.

Next we met Mr Pah, another awesome history teacher. He is still proud of my class, and he called us "Heroes who have made 100% A1 in Pure History."

Next, we went to see our E/A Maths Teacher, Ms Yeo. Ms Yeo claimed that she is getting old, her memory is failing her. Need I say more about it?
So, Darren re-introduced us one-by-one, and refreshed her memory.

Oh, we were, at that instance, looking at a class sitting at the parade square (getting punished for dont know what reason. Under the hot sun... It must be... animal cruelty)

Then we went to see our sec 3 physics teacher, Mr. Chan, and we chatted for awhile. It was then we come to know that our sec 4 physics teacher, Ms Tan, had went to Pei Hwa Sec Sch.. HEY! Isn't that my sister's school? I got to ask her when I get back, I thought.

Then we went to see our form teacher -aka- chemistry teacher, Mr Chew.
Nich Khaw (nk) and I then decided to tour the school to relieve some memories.
We went to our sec 4 classroom.. and that made me think of the "402 Blockade" that we built at that time. haha. It looks like this (see below):

Isn't that a great fortified defense? haha, good old memories that time.
Then we went to check out our sec 3 classroom.
The good old spray paint at the back of the class was gone... the bright pink colour was gone... it was repainted and it became 409 classroom.

Oh, and we realised that alot of the teachers received promotions. Mr. Wong, my elective geog teacher, has become the HOD of Humanities. Mr. Tang, my Chinese teacher, had become the HOD of Mother Tongue. etc

And then we went to the canteen. Nk, Desmond and I tried out Darren's self-made-cupcakes (which he deemed unpresentable to teachers anymore). It was nice, really.
As time passes, we went out to Hougang Point (not mall, not plaza) for lunch, with Ms Yeo and Mr Chew.
And so we had lunch at the Kopitiam. Mr Chew then treated us desserts. Then we went on separate ways.

I went home with Desmond. Took 161... its been long since I last took this bus... memories after memories...

Reached the bus stop and I, for once, dont mind walking the long stretch of road home. It just brings back more memories.

And then I went home and rested.
At around 6.30, I called Binghui (bh) and I went out to meet him. Then we went to the bus stop to wait for the arrival of Yian and Jacquelyn (jac). Apparently, they alighted at the wrong stop (1 stop earlier I think). So we walked and we met halfway. Yian is still living in denial, he still refuses to believe that trees are all around him in Sengkang and Sengkang is NOT A DESERT.

We went to bh's house to deposit our bags before heading to Rivervale Mall to eat dinner. We went for braised duck rice ($3 each). We then went back to his house, sit around, chat awhile then we studied over the night. I shall avoid all education details to avoid boredom.

And his dog is really crazy, his dog enjoys running round and round and round and round till the cows come home...
It seldom barks too.
The only thing I dislike about it is its licking... the dog licked my finger, my hand, my leg at some point, some instance, some time, some where, some how.

Let me re-enact this interesting scene.
Bh asked his mum "他 (Yi An) 像不像马来人?“
His mum replied ”他不是马来人meh?"

We studied till like 1am before going to sleep.
Jac complained about bh and yian's hand hitting her face in the middle of the night.
yian and I complained about bh's pulling and stealing of the blanket and hugging it... (I will elaborate on this later.)
And there is stiff and intense competition between yian and bh in the snoring contest.

One instance: Binghui was snoring, nothing from yian.
One instance: Yian was snoring, binghui nothing
One instance: BOTH of them were snoring, just that one is louder than the other. (It's all up to you to guess who snored louder.) [This is not rhetorical.]

Elaboration on the blanket stealing:
When I was sleeping next to bh, he stole the blanket from me as usual..
Then he woke up and realised he has been hogging the blanket... so he covered me with the blanket.
All is fine till like less than 5 minutes later.
He fell asleep and stole the blanket from me again...
And the worse thing is that he KEEPS REPEATING THIS CYCLE...

Ok, we were supposed to wake up at 3am to study... but obviously we failed to the maximum, to the infinity and beyond! Alarm clocks (or should I say phone alarms) ring and ring, one after another, from diff phones.. only to be snoozed by us LOL. And we didnt wake up after cancelling the alarm.

So we ended up waking at 8am. We then headed to Long John Silvers to eat breakfast. I ordered Double Turkey Bacon - which was nice, really nice. And it comes with a hashbrown :) and a drink (which I changed to Iced Milo). It's long since I drank iced milo...
After the meal, we went back to bh house to stone, sleep, watch tv, etc and headed home at 1.30pm.

I went home to watch TV awhile before sleeping till around 6. Went out with family to Suntec City via MRT.
Went to the Comex. Haiz, people mountain, people sea, water no entry. [to be read in Chinese]
Went home after that via Mrt... it was crowded.. but not that bad as compared to the EastWest and NorthSouth lines.

And thats about it. Prelims coming... damn sian... maybe no time to post in between...
